Build
Database
When your project needs a database, how the agent creates it, and how to ask for it.
Some projects only show content, like a sales page, a site or a landing page. They don't need to store information.
Other projects need to store information to look up or update later. For example, an app where the student logs the week's workout, a system where you track each client or a form whose answers you want to see organized. These projects need a database.
The agent asks before creating it
Every project starts without a database. When your request needs to store information, the agent shows a card in the chat with what the app will store and asks if it may create the database. The agent only creates the database after your yes.
- If you confirm. The database is ready in a few moments, and the agent carries on the work with it.
- If you decline. The agent carries on with the rest of the work without the database.
If the card gets wrong what the app will store, decline and explain in the chat what the app needs to store.
Once the database exists, describe in your own words what the app needs to store. The agent builds the structure, and you don't create tables, write queries or configure anything.
Example request:
Create an app to track workouts. The student logs the day's workout, marks it as done and writes a note. Store the history so they can see their progress over the month.
The database belongs to Launchpad itself. You don't create an account on another service or pay for anything separately. You can also create the database in the project's Database panel, with Link database.
When to use it
Your project needs a database when someone will come back to the app and look for what they left there.
- Usually needs one. The app has sign-ups, records, history, tasks, status, tracking or form answers you'll look up later.
- Usually doesn't. The project is a sales page, landing page, company site or members area that only delivers video and material.
When in doubt, describe what your user will do in the app. If "log", "save", "track" or "see the history" shows up, the project needs a database.
How to ask
Tell the agent what the app should store and what the user does with it:
- What needs to be stored. For example: "Name, phone, session date and amount paid."
- How you want to see it. For example: a list with search, an overview with numbers or a filter by status.
Example request:
Create a management system for my appointments. Let me register a client with name, phone and notes, and log each session with date, duration and amount. Use the project database to keep this saved. Include an overview with the month's total, a list with search and a screen to edit each record.
